Chamber Chatter for June 8: Sidewalk Sale Great Success; Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
June 8, 2011: Our Sidewalk Sale this weekend was a great success! Mother Nature cooperated fully, and we had a beautiful day for the sale and the street festival. The streets of Bronxville were packed with happy shoppers! We provided bargains, entertainment, great food, and fun for all.
Behind the scenes, there are some very big players critical to the sale's organizational puzzle without whose help the event would not have gotten off the ground. We are very grateful for their help and support, and we would like to recognize them here:
Village Hall: The Village of Bronxville and the Department of Public Works--we were fortunate that the Village granted us free parking for two days this year. Also, our Department of Public Works not only hung our banners for us, but also worked tirelessly all day on Saturday to keep the festival running smoothly and to keep it very clean. Bronxville is not slowing down this week; there are several events planned around town. A reception for Concordia College's International Artist Residency program is scheduled for Thursday, June 9, at 7:00 pm, in the OSilas Gallery. The reception includes an exhibition of the artists' work and a lecture on Indian art and the work of the visiting artists by art historian Dr. Ashrafi Bhagat. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
A fund-raiser for Meals on Wheels 10708 sponsored by the Bronxville Rotary Club presents "Bargemusic" on Sunday, June 12, at 2:30 pm. The event will be held at St. Joseph's Church. Tickets are $25 ($15 for seniors and students). For reservations call 914-787-3027. You may also purchase tickets at the door.
Lawrence Home Care of Westchester will hold a special benefit fund-raiser on Sunday evening, June 12. The benefit will pay tribute to the memory of Kay Carsky--a longtime and cherished member of the fund board of LHCW. Kay was deeply involved in the Bronxville community, as well as the greater Westchester community. The cocktail reception is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at a private residence in Bronxville.
