June 22, 2011: Merlin got his name because it is a magical miracle that he is still alive.
Merlin was found as one of a litter of six kittens born to a local neighborhood stray. Everything seemed to be going well for this litter while they were living outside and waiting for room to open up at a local animal shelter or rescue group.
Then one day, they were all gone. All of his brothers and sisters had vanished and baby Merlin was left all alone to fend for himself. By the time help reached him, he was half starving, with eye and sinus infections that made it nearly impossible for him to see and breathe.
At almost five weeks of age he was rushed to a vet who determined that, thankfully, he could be helped and that he did not have feline aids or leukemia. He was immediately started on IV antibiotics and salve and instantly began to purr with happiness as he was being given his medicine.
Now, at six weeks old, Merlin is 100% healthy and ready to find his forever home. He is the sweetest little kitten and endlessly purrs with happiness. Merlin loves to play for hours at a time and would very much love to once again have a brother or sister to play with.
This smart little fellow was litter-box trained from day one and has never had an accident.
If you are looking for a tiny kitten with a huge heart, soul, and personality, Merlin is your guy. To meet Merlin, please contact Jean at 914-648-9977 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
If you are not able to adopt right now, please consider fostering Merlin until a home can be found for him.
