Pet of the Week: Bernadette
August 3, 2011: Bernadette is a beautiful and sweet St. Bernard who lived the first two years of her life tied to a doghouse behind an apartment building. She was owned by the landlord of the building and, sadly, he often neglected to provide her with even the basic care.
But Bernadette was very much on the minds of many of the building's residents. They always made sure she had food, water, and plenty of love. This caring group of people tried to take care of her, but they also realized that what they were doing was not enough and Bernadette deserved a real home of her own.
Thankfully, they convinced the landlord to allow them to find her a home, and Bernadette is now safely in the care of the New Rochelle Humane Society. She is a gentle and friendly dog who is going to make a wonderful pet--all she needs is a chance.
