Jul. 26, 2017: Mint Julep is my name and hound is my game! It was so strange--one minute I was in the car looking out the window, and the next my brother, Jack Daniels (a beagle), and I were tied to a pole outside an animal shelter watching our car drive away.
But please don't feel sorry for us. We are doing really well here and they are treating us with lots of love and kindness.
I am a female bluetick coonhound and a real country gal. I dream of living with a family that has lots of outdoor space for me to explore and activities to keep me busy. I'm friendly to everyone, including other dogs. I am far from a couch potato and am up for any type of adventure you can throw my way. All I need is a chance to show you how great I am.
I am healthy and well behaved and cannot wait to see what wonderful people will become my new family. Please come and say hi to me today. I am at the Humane Society of Westchester, which is only a few miles from Bronxville at 70 Portman Road in New Rochelle. The shelter is open seven days a week from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm except Thursdays, when it is open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For information about how to adopt me, please contact the shelter at 914-632-2925 or visit its website at www.HumaneSocietyofWestchester.org.
Little Jaz is one unique dog. She has the cutest overbite, which causes her tongue to perpetually stick out no matter what she is doing.
This two-year-old girl is a cross between a French bulldog and a Staffordshire bull terrier, which is why she is so small and low to the ground even though she is all muscle.
Jaz loves other animals and does well with dogs and cats of all sizes. She would do best with animals who want to play with her, but eventually she takes the hint if a cat really doesn't enjoy being her friend. She loves people, especially children. She is quite bouncy when she is excited, so she may intimidate a toddler a little, although she would never hurt anyone.
Jaz was adopted in October but was sadly just returned because both of her parents started new and time-consuming jobs. They felt bad that she was alone for so many hours during the day and wanted to give her a chance to be with a family who could spend more time with her.
She is crate trained and loves to go for walks. She also enjoys comfortable beds and plenty of snuggles. Jaz has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated, and she is in excellent health.
