Bronxville Farmers' Market Opens 13th Season this Saturday, May 10

May 7, 2014:  This Saturday morning, May 10, the resident Canadian geese will have lots of company! The Bronxville Farmers’ Market (BFM) returns to the great outdoors from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Stone Place at Paxton Avenue.

It is hard to believe that this will be our thirteenth season. We now run the entire length of Stone Place. This year we have 40 vendors, including 15 new vendors. We have five farms and one orchard attending.

Our new vendors this season offer meat from pasture-raised and grass-fed animals, cold-brewed coffees and teas, French-influenced prepared selections, fantastic (and healthy) dehydrated, raw, and baked snacks (gluten-free and some vegan), hand-crafted ice cream, healthy chili, best pies around, brownies made a zillion ways, exotic spices, chocolate, olive oil and vinegars, wine, and local brewery beers and ale.

Our flagship vendors will all be returning, including Cornell Cooperative Extension's Ask the Master Gardeners.

We hope to see all our regulars and hopefully some new faces. Weather permitting, the Shovel Ready String Band will be joining us also to crank up the festivities.

Please browse our new website, www.bronxvillefarmersmarket.com, and read more about all our vendors. Our Facebook page will have special offerings, new arrivals, and news alerts, as well as our vendor list posted weekly by Thursday evenings for the following Saturday's market.

The BFM is co-sponsored by the Village of Bronxville and the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. Both are invaluable in helping with the nuts and bolts of keeping the BFM running so smoothly. Parking in Bronxville can be challenging, but we seem to do just fine at our location, being literally surrounded by parking.

Please note that if you park in a spot with a meter, the meters must be fed! And with the BFM having so many vendors, please make sure you feed the meters well, because it will take you longer than in the past to visit all the vendors' stalls.

Please take note that Mother's Day is May 11, the day after the BFM. You can find gifts as well as all the dinner fixings you need for an entire Mother's Day dinner, and all within a few yards.

We hope to see you all on Saturday!
