This describes Hershell George's food philosophy and bxvFood, a boutique catering business that he started in 2010. Hershell is an artist and a gardener who comes from Mississippi and brings a Southern heart into the food he creates. His Southern roots also make him shy away from "over-complicated or fussy food."
Hershell caters for sit-down dinners, luncheons, cocktail parties, and buffets, but he does not cater for large events such as weddings. BxvFood can provide unique food, excellent service, and inviting ambiance, attending to all of the details, leaving you free to enjoy your guests. They work with the clients' preferences to create a menu that is distinct and innovative. "Our food is traditional, yet original, classic French technique brought to a contemporary table." Absolutely everything is homemade, and Hershell sources meat, fish, vegetables, and breads from Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, local farmer's markets, and his own lovely garden.
BxvFood serves Southern Westchester, southwestern Connecticut, and New York City with 80% of his catering done right here in Bronxville. Two to three weeks' advance notice is preferred for booking a date. His specialty and most rewarding meal is a seven-course seasonal sit-down dinner served in your home for 6-12 guests.

Rick Ross has been the owner of Eastchester Fish Gourmet restaurant and market for over thirty years. It caters expertly prepared food to take out for cocktail parties, dinner parties, and special events. Catering to Go, from the award-winning restaurant, features popular food items such as its famous shrimp cocktail, steamed lobsters, parmesan-encrusted cod, crab cakes, shrimp tacos, and fish burritos. Not all of the catered food items have to be seafood. Try its barbecued chicken, filet mignon, and grilled vegetables. From a quiet dinner for two to a large gathering, Eastchester Fish Gourmet can create a special menu for your event.
The Eastchester Fish Gourmet market, located a few doors down from the restaurant at 831 White Plains Road, carries many prepared foods, such as gazpacho, Manhattan and New England clam chowder, poached or grilled salmon, seafood risotto, and seafood paella. Other choices are shucked clams and oysters and both farro and quinoa grain salads. A great lunch choice is the kale, quinoa, and grilled shrimp salad with golden raisins and pistachios in a honey orange vinaigrette. For $29.95 per person, you can take out a one-and-a-half pound steamed lobster that comes with baked potato and cole slaw, complete with butter, lemon, and a bib.
All of the seafood purchased here is fresh, never frozen.

Josyane Colwell (Josie), owner and executive chef of Le Moulin Event Planning & Fine Catering, had been in the catering business for over thirty years. Originally from Nice, France, Josie started catering in Bronxville for cocktail and dinner parties. She can handle the "simplest to the most elegant affair," and she brings comprehensive event planning experience and attention to every detail for events including weddings and corporate events.
The food is always high quality, colorful, and artistically presented. Creativity and originality are Le Moulin's specialties. She and her staff can arrange event themes, invitations, flowers, entertainment to transportation, and valet service. You will be assured of lasting memories of your celebration, be it for friends, family, or business associates.
Corporate clients include leaders in a variety of industries, political associations, the arts, and a host of other business and private patrons. Le Moulin is "dedicated to giving you the best event possible and will spend as much time as necessary to ensure your vision comes to life."
Le Moulin is one of the few off-site caterers that is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by a woman in lower Westchester. Josyane was awarded the Entrepreneurial Award this year from the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce, one of the "Women of Excellence" awards.
