Hearts to Home Tailgate Party for Military Families Saturday, November 16
Nov. 6, 2013: Join Bronxville families for a tailgate party with visiting military families participating in the Hearts to Home program on Saturday, November 16. The event will be held on Hayes Field near the Bronxville Elementary School playground from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Volunteers will assemble 30 gift sets, including a Weber Smokey Joe grill, a soft cooler, a football, and NFL and Jets hats. They will then host 30 military families for a barbeque, games, and activities, tailgate style.
Each family will receive a gift set and, thanks to generous donations by the NFL and the NY Jets, Hearts to Home will also give away three sets of game tickets through a raffle. After the party, as guests of Hearts to Home and the USO, the families will be bused into New York City for an afternoon of holiday shopping and sightseeing.
Hearts to Home, a military appreciation program at The Bronxville School, started six years ago as a grassroots effort to show local support for troops overseas. Students staged fundraising events and with the proceeds bought prepaid telephone calling cards to send to the troops at the holidays so they could connect to their homes at a time when being away was particularly difficult.
The initial support from the Bronxville community was so strong that Hearts to Home has continued on, raising over $170,000 and sending over 6,000 calling cards overseas, representing almost 2,000,000 minutes of calling time for the troops and their families.
In addition to calling card mailings, in the past few years, Hearts to Home students have worked with the USO on additional events that show appreciation directly to military families in the area, as they were told by soldiers that supporting their families while they are away is most important to them.
Last year Hearts to Home and the USO staged two children's bike build events. At Christmas and then in the spring, students and parents from The Bronxville School came together to assemble 50 children's bikes and then hosted a lunch for the military families who came to pick them up.

Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.
