Dedicated Volunteers Clean Up Bronx River Parkway Reservation and Bronxville Lake

May 7, 2014: The Bronx River Parkway Reservation Conservancy (BRPRC) coordinated 12 groups to participate in the April 27 Pitch in for Parks annual cleanup. The volunteers worked from the Scarsdale train station to Scout Field in Bronxville.

Local groups involved were Asbury Church led by Kareen Canora and Barbara Gibson, Garrett Place Association led by Valerie Scimia, Armour Villa Association led by Patty and Ernie Medaglia and Max Clark in a kayak, and Scout Troop 5 led by Julie Meade.

The volunteers:

1. Landscaped the entrance to the Bronx River Reservation at Pondfield Road West

2. Removed litter from the edge of Bronxville Lake wearing boots and gloves and using a kayak

3. Removed saplings and downed branches to reveal the handsome stone outcropping on the west side of Bronxville Lake

4. Removed vines and branches from the Troublesome Brook in front of the Asbury Church and Scout Field in Bronxville.
