Junior League's Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser Returns Bigger than Ever Saturday, September 20

Sep. 10, 2014:  What kid wouldn't love to climb aboard a fire truck or big rig? The Junior League of Bronxville's Fifth Annual Touch-A-Truck fundraiser to be held on Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm will provide this opportunity for children to get hands-on experience with all types of public service and commercial vehicles.

The event will be held at the Immaculate Conception School Field, located at 53 Winterhill Road and White Plains Road (Rte 22) in Tuckahoe (rain or shine).

The Junior League (JLB) has secured a Westchester County Department of Public Safety helicopter. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to get up close with this helicopter as well as 15 other vehicles, including a fire truck, the Tuckahoe Trolley, and an Army truck.

There will be tons of kid activities, including the chance to interact with animals from the SPCA of Westchester, have your face painted, and create a twisted animal balloon (courtesy of Mickey Spillane's). DJ Samir will fill the air with family-friendly music.

Touch-A-Truck will also have a variety of food, entertainment for the family, a hay ride (courtesy of Nature's Cradle Nursery), and two bounce houses (provided in part by Leaps n Bounces A.D.M.). Get there early and catch a live performance by The Bossy Frog Band at 10:30 am.

The JLB's Touch-A-Truck event is the League's largest family event and provides a day filled with fun for everyone! "Touch-A-Truck is a family-oriented event where our kids can touch everything," said Touch-A-Truck committee co-chair Toni Haugh. "Children will be able to climb on and ask questions about the vehicles and equipment and learn how these machines help us and our community," said Touch-A-Truck co-chair Vicki Hoffman.

Confirmed truck exhibitors include: cherry picker truck (The Care of Trees), concrete truck (Concrete Express), army vehicle (NY Army National Guard), construction vehicle (Capital Equipment), fire truck and smoke house (Eastchester Fire Department), ambulance (Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Service), moving truck (Morris Moving), and bobcat (Nature's Cradle)--with more still to come.

Event attendees can also enjoy food from food truck vendors, including Poutine King, Johnson Truck, and Mister Softee. Area bakery What's for Dessert will have cupcakes on hand.

The JLB enjoys the support of local merchants who have generously donated goods and services toward this year's raffle baskets, including Breezeway, Tryforos & Pernice Flower Shoppe, Womrath Bookshop, Tuck'd Away Bar & Grille, Bronxville Community Church, and author Eileen Palma.

Tickets at the door are $10 per person. Children under one are free. Families can save $10 with an advance purchase of four or more tickets. For advance ticket sales and more information, please visit www.jlbronxville.org.

Proceeds from this event will support JLB's mission to fight hunger and promote proper nutrition within its service areas of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, and Yonkers.
