The Community Fund Announces New Officers; Katharine Outcalt New President

Sep. 17, 2014: The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe named Katharine Outcalt as its new president for the 2014-15 fiscal year.
Outcalt, who has lived in Bronxville since 2007, is in her fifth year on the board of The Community Fund. In that time, she has served as evaluator, team captain, campaign co-chair, and president elect. She is a member of the Pingry School Alumni Association board and the Trinitas Health Foundation and is an active volunteer with the Bronxville Elementary School Council. She succeeds outgoing president Jeff Rohr.
"The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe is unique in its mission," noted Outcalt. "It is neighbors helping neighbors in every sense of the word. I am excited and proud to be a part of this dynamic organization whose sole mission is to make good things happen in our community."
Other appointments for the 2014-15 year include Doug Meyer, who will be taking on a dual role as president elect and Bronxville campaign co-chair along with Annette Healey Dowling; Judi McCandless, secretary; Dana Arrighi, treasurer; Donna Ruhanen, marketing chair; Larry Bettino and Joella Lykouretzos, investment co-chairs; Neal Denning and Susan Kutzin, campaign co-chairs for Eastchester and Tuckahoe; Ron Mager and Cathy Needham, evaluation co-chairs; and Judy Foley and Jim Rotenberg as co-chairs of the Community Fund's annual golf outing.
New to the board this year are Andrea Bates, Kristen Evans, Bill Knox, Jennifer Lescott, Rosetta McArdle, and John Reynolds. They will be joining returning board members Stephen Arcano, Mike Calano, Robert Castano, Jennifer Colao, Michael Connolly, Philippa Freeman, Fran Harris, Michelle Liscio, David McBride, Kimberly Powell, Jeff Rohr, Lauren Toal, Elinor Urstadt, and Mark Welshimer.
"I am truly excited about the upcoming year," noted Melinda Burge, executive director of the fund. "The new talent joining the board is exceptional, and with the experience and expertise of our returning board members combined with the leadership of Katharine and the other officers, I am confident that the fund will have a successful year."
The Community Fund is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1919 to enhance the quality of life and provide assistance to all residents living in Bronxville (including the areas located in the 10708 zip code), Eastchester, and Tuckahoe. For 95 years it has provided funding and support to social service agencies and community programs serving the health, education, and welfare needs of local residents.

Bronxville Beautification Council
Organized in 1982, the Bronxville Beautification Council (BBC) is a not-for-profit organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The mission of the BBC is to enhance and maintain the natural and man-made beauty of the village of Bronxville, with an emphasis on the downtown business district.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
