Nov. 18, 2015:  On Wednesday, October 21, Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care held its sixteenth annual Better Than Cooking Dinner benefit at the Bronxville Field Club. Under the leadership of event co-chairs Michelle McBrideSharon Parson, and Laurie Schetlick, the benefit was a huge success, raising over $50,000 for the wonderful work of this beloved community organization!

Highlights of the evening were the exquisite signature tastings prepared by our top country club and restaurant chefs.

An American Bistro served up an immensely popular Cajun tuna taco with roasted corn relish; Eastchester Fish Gourmet served its landmark fish and chips in its famous beer batter; Eliá Taverna created an odyssey of tantalizing Greek dishes; Haiku Asian Bistro outdid itself with its fabulous sushi; Spice Village added an Indian flavor to the evening with chicken tikka masala and shots of mango lassi; and Underhills Crossing prepared its ever-popular short ribs, grilled to perfection with a side of mushroom purée.

As the event host, the Bronxville Field Club outdid itself with a seared duck breast; Dobbs & Bishop brought an assortment of amazing gourmet cheeses; Leewood Golf Club prepared its own homemade roasted chicken garlic sausage; Manursing Island Club dished up scrumptious pan-seared shrimp over southern grits; Old Oaks Country Club served veal and pignoli meatballs that were to die for, accompanied by a mouth-watering butternut squash risotto; Shenorock Shore Club made its signature venison Bolognese; and to top it all off, Siwanoy Country Club served delicious sweet potato gnocchi accompanied by lamb bacon pomegranate molasses.

Mingling over delicious foods and fine wines, the more than 200 guests had a chance to savor scrumptious desserts by What's For Dessert? and relish in the delight of Longford's Own-Made Ice Cream. As always, Better Than Cooking is an evening to remember and cherish until next year!
