Meet the Therapists of The Counseling Center

Feb. 14, 2018:  Those who seek help with emotional difficulties have a new means of knowing where to turn to improve their lives. Thanks to a generous grant by a longtime supporter, The Counseling Center now offers video introductions to their therapists on its website at www.counselingcenter.org.

Virgil Roberson, LP, NCPsyA, executive director of the center, is pleased to add this new dimension to its website. “The Counseling Center,” he noted, “is an important resource for people in our community who are facing a range of emotional difficulties or simply struggling to navigate life’s hurdles. For those who hesitate to seek our help because they’re uncertain as to how they might connect with a particular therapist, the videos add a level of comfort and remove a barrier for help.”

In each short video, the clinician shares his or her background, areas of interest and expertise, and approach to working with clients. Dr. Jane Benjamin, the center’s clinical director, said, “These videos give prospective clients insight into what it might be like to work with different therapists, enabling them to choose a professional they feel a sense of chemistry with and one who best suits their particular needs and goals.” She adds that those who would prefer a personal referral can reach her by calling the center’s main number, 914-793-3388.

In the spring, the center will be releasing another short video that features its offices located in The Reformed Church and their staff working together as a team.

Rosanne Welshimer, chair of the center’s board of directors, strongly believes in the work of The Counseling Center. “The heart and soul of the center is its fee subsidy program and commitment to treat every patient, regardless of his or her ability to pay. We are grateful that it is supported, in part, by The Community Fund.”

As the demand for services has grown, the center has expanded its team to meet its mission of providing high-quality, affordable counseling and psychotherapy and to serve as a mental/behavioral health resource to Lower Westchester.
