Dear Members of the Bronxville Community,
Since she arrived in Bronxville in 2011, Sara Kenny has been an impassioned volunteer who has demonstrated an unrivaled commitment to town and school.
Following a successful career in finance, Sara channeled her efforts toward family and education. She made an immediate mark serving as Treasurer for the Reformed Church Nursery School before raising funds for the Bronxville School Auditorium project and serving on the Committee to Turf Hayes Field. Sara’s effectiveness and ability to handle differing points of view and build a consensus made her a “go to“person in multiple capacities.
Sara has been a class parent and grade chair many times over including the 5th grade and 8th grade “Moving Up” years and served as Elementary School Chairperson. She has been a six year coach and member of the Board of the Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association and is the Treasurer of the Bronxville School Athletic Council. Sara has volunteered for the Bronxville After School Club and the Safety Committee and has served as the Middle School Modified Sports representative for the past five years. Sara served as a member of the Non-Partisan Committee from 2014 to 2017 and has been on the Board of Jansen Hospice since 2019. Prior to committing to run for the position of Bronxville School Board Trustee, Sara had planned to be High School Council Chair next year. When she is not volunteering, Sara and her husband Ryan can usually be found on the sidelines of a Bronxville school baseball, football, basketball, lacrosse, or tennis match watching their four children {Connor (11th grade), Patrick (9th), Tim (8th), Reagan (5th)} compete.
Sara has deep relationships with parents, teachers, and the administration alike, and contributes countless hours weekly to both general school matters and the school athletic programs. Her knowledge of all three schools and understanding of the various issues and challenges facing each of them is truly unparalleled. She is bright, engaging, strategic, altruistic, and she does the hard work and heavy lifting-yet she is honest, principled, and reasonable. Essentially, she is a great teammate and people in our community respect her for this.
She is an individual of great integrity, honesty and trustworthiness. Sara is a natural leader who possesses excellent communication skills, loyalty, grace under pressure, and accountability. Sara’s skill set perfectly complements the Legal and Academic expertise Christina Skinner provides. Together, they will be highly effective Board members and assets to the entire community.
We urgently ask for your support for both Christina Skinner and Sara Kenny on May 16th.
Sincerely,
Hugh Allen

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
