Feb. 15, 2017:  Bronxville Middle School science teachers Karen Green and Frank Viggiani recently attended a workshop at the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center to discuss the role and importance of global citizenship in the classroom.

As part of the January 31 workshop, they collaborated with a group of teachers and technology education professionals from across the region. Led by LHRIC's instruction technology facilitators, the educational leaders worked together to find ways to incorporate global citizenship lessons that build upon the values of respect, empathy, and tolerance in their classrooms. The workshop also provided the teachers with a variety of digital tools, hands-on activities, and other useful resources to help them foster leadership skills among their students.

"We were very impressed with the global citizenship workshop and found out that there are many ways we could incorporate engaged citizenship into a 21st-century science classroom," Viggiani said.

Green added that throughout the full-day session, they worked in groups to discuss several recent articles about global citizenship and watched a few inspiring videos of real-life examples of how they can make a difference.
