Jul. 22, 2020: Concordia College New York will broadcast the final Hoch Chamber Music Series concert of the 2019-20 season, A Night of Civics & Civility, on Friday, August 7, at 7:00 pm.  

It will be broadcast on the Concordia Conservatory YouTube channel, Optimum channels 19, 74 and 75, and FiOS channels 34, 40, and 47. Delayed from its scheduled date in April by the pandemic, the concert will be performed in Sommer Center for a broadcast audience. 

Performing will be Grammy Award-winning violist Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet and violinist Elizabeth Lim-Dutton, with violinists Jee Sun Lee and Emanouil Manolov, violist Jesus Rodolpho Rodriguez, cellist Chung Sun Kim, and pianist Jon Klibonoff. 

Remarks by Concordia College President Dr. John Nunes and the Reverend Pastor Sam Clover of The Reformed Church of Bronxville will open the concert on the theme of civics and civility.

The concert program includes Joaquin Turina: Scéne Andalouse for Piano Sextet, Op. 7 and Ernest Chausson: Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet in D Major, Op. 21.

About the Artists

Lawrence Dutton has served as the Artistic Director of the Hoch Chamber Music Series for 19 years, transforming it into a world-class chamber music series with an eclectic mix of repertoire and artists. Hailed as a “poet violist” (The New Yorker) and violist of the Emerson String Quartet for over three decades, Dutton has earned distinction performing more than 100 concerts each season throughout the United States and abroad. Dutton’s unparalleled list of achievements with the Quartet includes more than 30 acclaimed recordings since 1987, nine Grammy Awards, and collaborations with some of the greatest artists of our time. Dutton is Professor of Viola and Chamber Music at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Elizabeth Lim-Dutton has performed extensively in the United States, Europe, the Far East, and Australia in a variety of world class ensembles, including Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Steve Reich and Musicians and the Steve Reich Ensemble, New York Pops Orchestra and the Stamford Symphony. She is also a much in demand studio and Broadway violinist; Broadway credits include Matilda; Promises, Promises; The Sound of Music; La Boheme; and A Catered Affair. She has performed with a wide variety of ensembles, including as a member of the New York Pops, New Haven Symphony, and with the New York City Ballet Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Lim-Dutton has appeared as a guest artist with the Laurentian and Mendelssohn String Quartets as well as with the Emerson String Quartet.
