Thomas D. Rizzo, MD, and John J. F. Mulcahy Inducted into Hall of Honor at Fordham Prep

Dec. 11, 2013: Thomas D. Rizzo, MD, father of village residents Bill and Peter Rizzo, and John J. F. Mulcahy, the grandfather of Noel Mulcahy Dubak and E. James Mulcahy, both Bronxville residents, were inducted into the Hall of Honor at Fordham Prep on Friday night, November 22.
Tom Rizzo, who passed away in October of 2010, was an orthopedic surgeon on staff at Lawrence Hospital, where he began in 1963. He attended Fordham Prep for his last two years of high school, and all five of his sons graduated from the school, where Dr. Rizzo was a trustee for six years, starting in 1987. Among many other things, Dr. Rizzo also oversaw the creation of the Rizzo Family Science Lab at St. Joseph School in Bronxville.
John J. F. Mulcahy was widely credited with bringing the sport of rowing to Fordham Prep. Mulcahy won two Olympic medals for rowing, a silver in 1902 for single sculls and the prized gold medal in 1904 for double sculls.
Members of the Rizzo and Mulcahy families attended the ceremonies at Fordham Prep to witness the inductions and share in the posthumous honor.
