Attention, Book Lovers: Come to the Bronxville PTA's Used Book Sale

May 14, 2014: The Bronxville School PTA will once again host a used book sale over Memorial Day Weekend, and the entire community is invited.
"I get volunteers who aren't just school parents but others who love the book sale," said Jocelyn Angelone, who organized last year's sale and is doing it again this year with co-chair Molly Bianco.
Jocelyn and Molly hope that members of Gramatan Village will once again donate books, volunteer to help run the sale, and come to buy books. In years past, buyers also have included folks from local preschools and camps trying to build libraries and book sellers hunting for rare editions.
"The used book sale is great for kids, teens, and adults who love to read," Jocelyn said. "They can satisfy that desire without having to spend a tremendous amount on books." Last year, the president of the PTA discovered a limited edition book on birds.
The PTA will be accepting donations of books, DVDs, and CDs from Monday, May 19, through Wednesday, May 21, at the elementary school entrance on Midland Avenue. "It's a great way for people to recycle books and reduce the clutter," Jocelyn said. "Some of us gather tons of books, and then we don't know what to do with them."
Jocelyn said she and Molly volunteered to run the book sale because they love books. "It is also a great way to meet people," Jocelyn said.
Volunteers from the PTA and the community sort through the books and man the sale, which this year will be held in the elementary school multipurpose room on Friday, May 23, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm; Saturday, May 24, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; and Monday, May 26, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Folks who volunteer to sort through the donations get first crack at buying books.
