Eastchester Makes Special Presentation to Grand Marshal and Honorees of Columbus Day Parade

Oct. 22, 2014: Eastchester Supervisor Anthony Colavita and the Eastchester Town Board made a special presentation to the grand marshal and honorees of the 2014 Columbus Day Parade at the town board meeting on October 7, 2014.
Vincent Vetrini was named the grand marshal. Mr. Vetrini has been a longtime Eastchester resident and was the co-founder of the Eastchester Youth Soccer Association. He is the owner of County Appliances and a longtime Columbus Day Parade supporter.
This year's recipient of the Monsignor Anthony Maltese Humanitarian Award is Joseph Luciano. Mr. Luciano is a lifelong Eastchester resident who has spent countless years coaching for Eastchester Little League, Blue Devils, and various school teams. He is also a member of the Eastchester Youth Sports Council.
Also honored was Scott Mikos, this year's recipient of the David R. DiRubba Community Service Award. Mr. Mikos is currently the president and chief executive officer of Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp (EVAC) and has been a volunteer at EVAC for fourteen years.
Supervisor Colavita said, "The committee chose exceptional honorees this year. We are proud of each of them. Each has contributed greatly to the betterment of our town, Italian-American heritage, and are deserving of such a great distinction."
The Eastchester Columbus Day Parade took place on Sunday, October 12, beginning at 3:30 pm from Immaculate Conception Church and continuing up White Plains Road to Lake Isle Country Club.
