School Budget Passes; Atkeson and Evans Elected School Trustees

May 16, 2018: Bronxville voters went to the polls yesterday for the annual election of school trustees and budget referendum. A total of 190 votes were cast, 184 of which were machine votes and six of which were absentee ballots. There were no affidavit ballots.
The proposed 2018-2019 budget of $48,222,978 passed with 143 votes for and 43 against.
Non-Partisan Committee candidates Jonathan Atkeson and Thomas Evans were elected school trustees; incumbent Jonathan Atkeson was re-elected, and Evans was elected to fill the seat vacated by Jeffrey Rohr. Atkeson received 155 votes with no write-ins, and Evans received 161 votes with two write-ins.
Atkeson has served on the Bronxville Board of Education for the past three years, most recently as vice president. Over the last eighteen years, he has worked as a private equity investor and has served on a number of boards or acted in a board level capacity. Evans has built and led a number of technology companies, before which he was president and publisher of U.S. News & World Report for ten years.
