Recycle Electronic Devices, Paper, Sports Equipment, and Old Linens at Take-Back Day Saturday, October 27

By Mary Liz Mulligan, Chairman, Bronxville Green Committee
Oct. 17, 2018: The Bronxville Green Committee ("BGC") will host the semi-annual Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine. Volunteer members of the BGC, as well as several DPW staff, will be on hand to direct and assist you.
We continue to keep this a true green event for residents. Everything collected ends up, in one form or another, repurposed. Please keep in mind that this is not a trash drop-off event. It is a recycling event.
Directions. The entrance for drop-offs will be the Bronxville Police Department driveway on Pondfield Road, directly across the street from Crows Nest Road. There will be a large "Bronxville Green Committee" lawn banner at the entrance. There will be lane dividers to keep one lane open for police access to the station and the other for Take-Back Day participants. Stations will be spaced out, with clear signage, and volunteers will direct you to the collection station you need. Palumbo Place will be closed to traffic during the collection hours. Please remember to drive slowly when in the process of dropping off.
Accepted Items:
Used Items for Yonkers Animal Shelter: Sheets, towels, and blankets will be collected and brought to the Yonkers Animal Shelter. No other linens, please.
E-Waste: Electronic devices such as computers, tablets, monitors, cell phones, printers, and televisions will be accepted. Click here to view more items classified "electronic waste" that will be accepted.
Paper for the County Mobile Paper Shredder: The county mobile shredder will be there to do secure, on-site shredding. There is a two-carton limit per car. All paper clips and staples need to be removed. Commercial drop-offs are not accepted, and no walk-ins are allowed for safety and fairness reasons. There is usually a line for the shredder. When the truck is filled to capacity, which often happens before 1:00 pm, the shredding is over.
Sports Equipment for Let's Play It Forward: Let's Play It Forward is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that collects sports equipment in gently used condition and repurposes it for needy groups or organizations. Please check its website, http://www.letsplayitforward.org/, and click on "Donate" for specific information on acceptable items.
Thank you. A special thanks to the Bronxville Green Committee members, Mayor Mary Marvin, Jim Palmer, and the dedicated and always helpful DPW staff for making this much-needed and appreciated event possible.
Donations. Small monetary donations are welcome. We always seem to need more signs.
