October 17, 2018, 2:00 pm, Author Michael Klein, "One World Falls Into the Other: When Poetry Makes Prose." Michael Klein, author of When I Was a Twin and Track Conditions, will be talking about how he decides which works are poems, which are essays, and which might become book-length memoirs and how poetry is used throughout his process.
October 18, 2018, 2:00 pm, Author Vivian Gornick, Craft of Nonfiction. Author Vivian Gornick, writer of essays, memoirs, and criticism and author most recently of The Odd Woman and The City, will be holding a craft talk.
October 24, 2018, 2:00 pm, Author Joshua Bennett, "Four Horses: Pursuing the Animal in Black Poetics." Dr. Joshua Bennett, author of The Sobbing School, is holding a craft talk, which he describes as "an extended meditation on joy in African American poetics, which will be focusing mostly on the work of Aracelis Girmay, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Lucille Clifton."
October 30, 2018, 1:30 pm, Music Tuesday with Pianist Bennett Lerner. Pianist Bennett Lerner will be performing in the Reisinger Concert Hall in the Performing Arts Center at 40 Glen Washington Road.
October 30, 2018, 2:00 pm, Author Mitchell Jackson, "Repetition as Philosophy, Voice, Structure." Mitchell S. Jackson, author of The Residue Years, will examine repetition as a philosophical and craft approach, as well as the role that repetition plays in creating an eloquent voice and how it can inform the structure and organization of what we write.
