Bronxville Declares State of Emergency; 8 PM Curfew for Those 18 & Under; Social Distancing Critical

Dear Residents:
We expect that the County Executive, George Latimer, in conjunction with the Governor, will be holding a press conference this afternoon to announce a State of Emergency in Westchester along with the closing of all public and private schools.
In anticipation of this the Bronxville School announced it would be transitioning to a “distance learning” platform effective Monday, March 16th.
This was a difficult decision, and one we feel is vital in order to responsibly combat the spread of the Coronavirus.
We are asking to the greatest degree possible for the cooperation of our community to assist and insist on the essential necessity of social distancing during this critical period.
We recognize the added burden it may place on families as well as our Police Department as they assist us in dispersing groups of children.
It is incredibly important that all parents carefully explain to their children that the only way to slow the spread of this disease is to significantly limit close person-to-person contact for the time being.
Our students need to understand that this is not an "extended snow day," during which they can interact with their friends and others as normal. This includes the youngest members of our community since they too need to limit their interaction with other children.
We are trying our best to maintain outlets for residents. However, the point of the action taken here is to attain distancing to aid in lessening the spread of the virus.
If the maintenance of outlets like our track, fields and playgrounds becomes inconsistent with the social distancing effort, we will have no choice but to close access entirely. The consideration and cooperation of all is needed. Please use the track, fields, and playgrounds in ways that support our efforts here and that are mindful of providing an opportunity for others.
In conjunction with this the Village has declared a State of Emergency and issued an 8 PM curfew for everyone 18 years old and under and we need your help to safely and successfully implement this regulation.

We enjoy a wonderful community and one that cares about each other. Please do your part in helping everyone during this challenging time.
