Pet of the Week: Ellie
Written by Allison Roesser
Sep. 24, 2014: My real name is Ellie, but my nickname is "Sweet Ellie," because I am so full of goodness and love. I am a medium-sized adult female beagle/shepherd mix who wants more than anything in the world to have a family to call my own.
I was living in an overcrowded shelter, and the staff and volunteers believed I was so wonderful that they had me transferred to the New Rochelle Humane Society, where I would have a better chance of getting adopted.
This place is much more my style. I have my own kennel and get plenty of walks and hugs from everyone here. People keep telling me how smart I am. One of the nice things about this shelter is that they offer a class called What Every Shelter Dog Should Know. I was recently invited to attend the class and I enjoyed every minute of it. I practiced sitting politely as well as relaxing in a crate and I am proud to say that I graduated with an "A."
I am also told that I am the perfect pick for a family who has never had a dog before. They say I will be an excellent ambassador for my species.
I am in great health, housebroken, spayed, and up to date with my vaccinations.
If you like, you can meet me today, because the shelter is open seven days a week--from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on all days except Thursdays, when it is open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The address of the shelter is the New Rochelle Humane Society, 70 Portman Road, New Rochelle (just 10 minutes away from Bronxville).
For information about how to adopt, contact them or visit their website at www.NewRochelleHumaneSociety.org.
