Dec. 11, 2024: Mr. Hackenburg was born in Eason, PA to the late Warren and Mary Frances Hackenburg. His family moved to Bronxville, NY when he was around 1 year old. "Fritz," as he is affectionately known, attended Bronxville High School, where his mother was a teacher. He excelled in football, led his baseball team as captain, and was a well-rounded athlete admired by many
Fritz graduated Bronxville High in 1962 and went on to earn degrees from Florida State University and Bernard Baruch University where he received his MBA in Finance. He worked with Ray Dircks and became proficient in financial industry analysis. He worked for Swiss American Securities as a general research analyst on the institutional side of the firm for over 25 years
In his younger years, Fritz would cast lobster crates in the Long Island Sound. He owned a diesel trawler which he enjoyed taking down to the East River to watch Fourth of July fireworks with friends, including Bronxville classmates. Fritz was also an artist with a penchant for painting Hopper in his spare time, a skill acquired at Bronxville High with the help of his art teacher Ian Thompson.
In 1991, Fritz married Joanne Liakos. Together, they moved to Mamaroneck NY's Taylors Lane and raised two wonderful children before retiring to Vero Beach in 2017.
Fritz is survived by his wife, Joanne Hackenburg, two children Shelby (27) and Cole (19) Hackenburg and sister Laura Marzouli, Bronxville High School Class of 1962.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach or Swim Across America.
