Oct. 9, 2024: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard C. King, known affectionately as "Richie," who left us peacefully on August 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 7, 1950, Richie lived a life of remarkable dedication and passion. Richie’s journey began with his enlistment in the Marines, where he served with the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company starting in 1967. His commitment to service continued with the 75th Rangers from 1969 to 1974 and extended through his time in the Vietnam War as part of the Special Forces from 1976 to 1989.
His valor and dedication to his country were matched only by his profound knowledge and love for the natural world. A voracious reader with a keen intellect, Richie spent his life expanding his understanding of nature and sharing his knowledge with those around him. His inquisitive mind and warm spirit made him a cherished presence in every conversation.
In addition to his remarkable military career, Richie was honored to serve as the Grand Marshal for the Bronxville Memorial Parade in 2023—a testament to his enduring legacy and the respect he earned from his community.
Richie is survived by his beloved daughter, Jenna King, who was the light of his life. His legacy of courage, wisdom, and love will continue to inspire and be remembered by all who knew him.
