Sept. 16, 2023: The son of the late Joan Lang Meade and Thomas Francis Meade, Charlie grew up in Brookville.
He attended Fairfield University and graduated from Adelphi University in 1984 with a BA in Finance and Political Science.
After an almost two-decade career on Wall Street, Charlie began to pursue his true calling, architecture. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology in 2002 and went on to a successful career in property loss consulting.
Charlie loved spending time on Lake Champlain during his childhood, summering at Basin Harbor, VT and attending Camp Dudley (#11211) in Westport, NY. He lived by the Dudley motto “The Other Fellow First” and tried to pass this message along to as many people as he met. It gave him incredible joy when his son, Tommy (#22111), followed in his footsteps and also attended Dudley.
Charlie was very active in his Bronxville community, including serving as President of St. Joseph’s Parish Council, President of the Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester & Tuckahoe, a Pack 5 Cub Scout leader, and a member of The Bronxville School’s Facilities Committee where he provided valuable assistance to the remediation efforts after the 2007 flood.
An avid woodworker and gardener, Charlie dedicated much of his free time to projects he was passionate about. This included refinishing furniture, fully renovating the family’s first home, and building out basements. He took special pleasure in helping his daughter, Perry, create her own beautiful home and backyard gardens.
Charlie loved golf, cooking, fast cars, good music, and good wine. He will always be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, larger-than-life personality, epic dinner parties and stylish wardrobe.
He is survived by his beloved children, Perry Lang Meade and Thomas Patrick Meade; his siblings, Paul (Bernadette) Meade and Regina (Anthony) Lafaire; and his nieces and nephews, Lauren (Brian) Lysy, Gregory (Amanda) Lafaire, Courtney Meade, Marielle (Alex) Drennan, Grace (Matthew) Goldstein, and Xavier Lafaire.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held in Bronxville, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, Camp Dudley or a charity of your choice.
