Dec. 4, 2024: This holiday season, Gramatan Village is proud to celebrate the success of its 5th Annual Friendsgiving, an initiative that embodies the true spirit of community and kindness.

In collaboration with the Armour Villa Neighborhood Association, Gramatan Village once again united with generous donors to raise funds for this meaningful cause. As a result, over 100 gourmet holiday meals were prepared and delivered to seniors in the local area, brightening the season with nourishment and connection.

Each meal was a feast of seasonal flavors, generously prepared by John Byrne and his team at Scarborough Fair Catering. From tender turkey to delicious side dishes, every element was crafted with precision and care, creating an experience that felt truly special.

Of course, none of this happens without a whole village of helpers! This effort was made possible with the help of our partners in service, including Eastchester Senior Programs and Services, Yonkers NNORC and Yonkers Public Library – Crestwood Branch who joined forces with a team of dedicated Gramatan Village volunteers to make sure every meal was delivered with care, embodying the spirit of teamwork and community service at its finest.

Adding a personal touch, meal deliveries included handmade holiday cards crafted by student volunteers from The Bronxville School’s Freshman Transition Program, led by School Counselor Marina Ford. These thoughtful notes brought smiles to recipients and underscored the importance of fostering intergenerational connections during the holiday season.

What makes this event truly significant is its ability to foster a sense of connection and unity, bringing individuals together in a powerful way. The recipients were deeply appreciative of the carefully prepared meals and the heartfelt cards they received.

Moments like this highlight the vital role that relationships and connectedness play in our lives. As Grace Gilmer, Executive Director of Gramatan Village, shares, “Friendsgiving is one of GV’s most meaningful events of the year. It’s a time to come together, give back, and spread joy to our neighbors. We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our partners and volunteers who help make this event possible year after year.”
