Oct. 28, 2024: Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care has a radio campaign that focuses on what caregivers experience as they tend to loved ones who are dying.
The campaign features heartfelt stories of four women who experience the struggle, exhaustion, love and fear commonly felt by family caretakers. Dianne Carre, Angela Estevez, Susan Gordon, and Nan Harman speak honestly and openly about their personal journeys before and after hospice came into their homes.
“The goal of Jansen’s ‘Caring For The Caregivers’ radio campaign is to help those facing the loss of a loved one understand how hospice nurses, doctors, therapists and staff are there for them and their family members,” said Janet Lyons, Director of Marketing and Development for Jansen Hospice. “We hope these touching and informative stories will comfort and motivate families to reach out for our services earlier in the end-of-life process.”
“So often we hear from families three or four days before their loved one dies. Though we are happy to be of service whenever needed, we can help earlier in the caregiving process and create more windows for patients and family members to spend meaningful time together,” says Laura Hanlon, Jansen Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator.
Throughout the campaign caregivers speak candidly about how difficult it is to decide that hospice care is the proper course of action for them. “We understand that it’s not easy to embrace the idea of end-of-life care,” says Dorothy Baliban, Clinical Coordinator for Jansen’s Assisted Living Hospice Program. “It requires trust from patients, and especially trust from their family members. They need to believe in the value that comes with hospice care.”
Caregiver Angela Estevez says in her testimonial, “When you’re a family caregiver you think that you can do it all on your own. You don’t want to fail.” Many caregivers feel the burden of “doing it alone” even though it takes a whole team of highly trained hospice experts to properly care for a terminally ill patient. At Jansen Hospice, we know removing feelings of despair sensed by family members is just as important as managing the logistics of care for patients. As said in the new radio commercials, “Jansen Hospice is there for the ones you love, and we’re there for you.”
Angela Estevez
Diane Carre and Nan Harman’s testimonials echo this sentiment. Diane compares the organization to “angels” in the way they cared for her husband and mother, and Nan Harman conveys high praise for her brother’s exceptionally skilled care team: “They removed all the fear of hospice and replaced it with joy and love.”
Jansen Hospice thanks Dianne Carre, Angela Estevez, Susan Gordon, and Nan Harman for sharing their stories and hopefully helping others realize Jansen is there for you as well as your loved one.
