Gramatan Village’s Annual "Spring into Summer" Benefit Honored Marilynn and John Hill

By Kay-Lin Richardson, Gramatan Village Volunteer

June 20. 2024: Gramatan Village proudly hosted its annual Spring into Summer benefit at the beautiful Siwanoy Country Club. It was an evening of celebration and recognition honoring Marilynn and John Hill for their exceptional dedication to community service and support of Gramatan Village.

The Hills, esteemed residents of Bronxville and committed supporters of Gramatan Village, have devoted nearly five decades to enriching the community. Their remarkable contributions have left an indelible mark on numerous local organizations and initiatives.

John Hill has held several key positions, including President of the Bronxville School Board, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Sarah Lawrence College, and an active role in the Bronxville Rotary Club, among other significant contributions.

Marilynn Hill’s impactful work includes co-founding and chairing the Junior League’s Yonkers Court Assistance Program for Abused Spouses and leading several Bronxville organizations such as the Adult School and the Sarah Lawrence Library Friends. Notably, her visionary leadership in co-founding the Bronxville Historical Conservancy 25 years ago continues to shape and preserve the village's rich heritage.

In recognition of their extraordinary service, the Hills were honored with citations from elected officials, including Assembly Member Amy Paulin, Westchester County Legislator James Nolan, and Eastchester Town Supervisor, Anthony Colavita. In addition, Bronxville’s Board of Trustees member, William C. Fredericks, was in attendance offering comments on the inspirational community service provided by the Hills.

"We extend our sincere gratitude to our elected officials for providing citations acknowledging the outstanding commitment of Marilynn and John Hill to our community," said Grace Gilmer, Executive Director of Gramatan Village. "This event is an ongoing testament to the strength and spirit of our community. Marilynn and John Hill exemplify the values of service and dedication that make the execution of our mission possible. Their contributions have made a lasting impact, and we are proud to celebrate their legacy."

Gramatan Village thanks this year's Event Coordinator, Mariana Mingo and Benefit Co-Chairs Ellen de Saint Phalle and William Zambelli for their part in planning the festivities. It was a fun-filled evening, set to the beats of DJ Maurice Prester during a lively reception. Attendees were able to participate in a popular raffle, offering the chance to win exclusive prizes graciously provided by Neiman Marcus, La Casa Bronxville, Underhills Crossing Restaurant, and The Urban Hamlet.

The picturesque Siwanoy Country Club provided a perfect backdrop for the event, enhancing the evening's elegance and enjoyment. We extend our deepest gratitude to our community sponsors, including New York-Presbyterian Westchester, Mrs. Morgan’s Flower Shop, First Light Home Care, Griswold Home Care, The Fine Arts Gallery in Bronxville, Underhills Crossing Restaurant and M&T Bank whose generous support made this event possible.

Gramatan Village is a membership-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults continue living in their own homes with an enhanced quality of life by providing support services and social and educational programs to its members.

We are currently seeking summer volunteers for various roles, including drivers to take our members to appointments, assisting our members with basic tech-related tasks, handymen, and general office admin. If you're interested in volunteering and making a difference in the community, please contact the office for an application. This is also a great opportunity for teens to fulfill their community service hours while contributing positively to the community.
