April 6, 2022: Gramatan Village is pleased to announce Grace Gilmer, MSW, as its new Executive Director. Grace is assuming this leadership role after spending four months as Communication Coordinator at Gramatan Village. She is replacing Julia Schwartz-Leeper who served as our Interim Director for the past six months.

Originally from Southern California, Grace has a B.A. in Social Ecology from U.C. Irvine and an M.S. Degree in Social Work Administration from Columbia University. She worked for ten years at Graham Windham, a New York City nonprofit organization with services for families and children. She spent the last several years of her social work career at The Graham School, a residential treatment center for children, as their director of clinical, medical, and quality improvement services.

Grace is currently an active Board member of the Junior League of Bronxville and the Friends of the Bronxville Public Library. She is also the co-leader of Bronxville’s 6th grade Cadette Girl Scout troop. She moved to Bronxville with her husband, Shyda, in 2012.  They have three children who attend the Bronxville School.

Grace brings many years of professional experience to the organization and is committed to advancing the mission of Gramatan Village to provide much needed programs and services to older adults in the community. In her new leadership role, she is looking forward to resuming in-person activities, in addition to continuing supportive services for members. Some of these activities will include luncheons at various local restaurants, a walking group, reestablishing our caregivers support group and of course, supporting our long-standing member-led book and film clubs and men’s group.

“I am thrilled to have been appointed as Executive Director at Gramatan Village,” said Grace Gilmer. “I have already met many of our members and am excited to work with them to help them continue to lead independent and active lives.”

Please join us in welcoming Grace to her new role at Gramatan Village.
