Oct. 14, 2025: The Bronxville Dog Park will be closed during the Bronxville Village drainage construction project. Work is scheduled to commence in mid-October, and it is estimated that construction will last from nine months to one year.

The dog park is located on the east side of the Village. It is located just north of Alder Lane (which is Dusenberry Rd. extended) and just east of Crawford St.  There are houses located on the western side of the park (addresses on Dusenberry Rd. and Grove Lane), and there is a forest area just to the north of the dog park.

There are currently two groups that use the dog park. The first is dogs and their owners. The dogs enjoy running around the park, and the Village has provided a trash receptacle for dog waste, which the Village periodically empties. There are several benches around the park where dog owners and others sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. The second group are the gardeners, including nearby local residents and the Green Committee. There are several native/pollinator gardens on the perimeters of the park which are quite beautiful.

The Village is now introducing a third group or function to the park, namely drainage improvement for the east side of the Village. The drainage lines running east on Middle Lane, Grove Lane and Dusenberry Rd. are not functioning, and the sanitary lines in these same areas need to be replaced.

The construction plans call for a drainage channel to be located near the intersection of Alder Lane and Middle Lane, which would run through the forest area on a diagonal and end up near the intersection of Alder Lane and Crawford St. The former drainage lines on Middle Lane, Grove Lane, and Dusenberry Rd.  would now connect to this channel. This channel would carry water as needed away to the storm lines on Crawford St.  Further the plans call for a large stormwater detention area to be constructed in the forest area and park to temporarily detain the water until there is capacity in the downstream pipes to carry the water away. The detention area would be excavated by a depth of about four feet from the current elevations.

In preparation for this construction The Village has coordinated with local residents to determine which trees will be relocated. Further, local residents have removed the plants and shrubs from the garden areas that will be impacted by construction, namely the northern gardens bordering the forest area, the southern gardens along Alder Lane, and the gardens on the path from Dusenberry Rd. circle to the park. The current gardens along the eastern side and western side (other than the Dusenberry Rd. pathway) will not be impacted by the construction.

If you wish to learn more about the Village's construction plans, please go to the Village website and search "drainage."
