The Making of a Wedding: The Flowers

July 28, 2021: I spent several days watching my daughter Tori design, plan and execute a wedding this June. Many of us have done this during our lifetime for a family member, but Tori does this for a business. She has been an Event Designer for 20 years, and since Covid has been striking out on her own. She is responsible for conceptualizing a design and managing and producing events of all sizes.

After hours on the phone, estimates, and storyboards, the big day draws near. Flower arranging begins (this is my favorite part). In this case, Tori and her team were handling the rehearsal dinner also, which has a more casual elevated feel. Purple asters, golden rod (solidago), and statice were used as well as gooseneck loosestrife and mums.

This client wanted a soft palate of pinks (roses, aster, Queen Anne’s lace and wax flower) blues (delphinium and clematis) and whites (astilbe, roses, peony, and mock orange) which were the majority at the wedding. If you look closely, they used mint for the green. A few of the flowers came from a local grower.

Tori’s new role has afforded me the opportunity to “snoop” all her events and pass a few photos on to you.
