October 5, 2023, 7 pm: The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) invites women 21 years of age and older who reside or work in Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe, or Yonkers to an informational session to learn more about what our great organization does, meet the leadership team, and ask questions of current members. The Junior League of Bronxville, Inc. is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Please RSVP here.

October 5, 2023, 4 - 7pm: Sip, Shop and Celebrate Fall Fundraiser to Support Reformed Church of Bronxville Immigrant Relief Fund. The event is at J. McLaughlin at 75 Pondfield Road in Bronxville. 15% of sales will benefit the Reformed Church of Bronxville for the Immigrant Relief Fund.

Thursday, October 12, 2023 - 6:00pm: Memories for Life: Reversing Alzheimer's: Please join us for a special advanced screening of 'Memories for Life'. 'The documentary is a remarkable story about the first Alzheimer's patients who are reversing their symptoms by following a new health protocol. Sunday, October 15, 2023 - Dedication of Maltby ParkRibbon Cutting Ceremony will be at 3:15pm and remarks at 3:45pm.  The new Maltby Park is next to the Bronxville Village paddle tennis courts.

October 16, 2023, 7pm: Village Board of Trustees Meeting at Village Hall.

Thursday, October 19, 2023 - 11:00am: Gramatan Village's October Open House. Stop by our office for lemonade, tea, coffee, and cookies. Learn about our services, activities, and social groups. Location: Gramatan Village - 85 Pondfield Road - 2nd Floor, Bronxville NY. Gramatan Village is a 501© (3) non-profit organization that supports adults 55 and up who want to live confidently and independently at home. 

October 22, 2023, 2:00 - 4:00pm: The Mary B. Turino Art Show & Lecture at the Bronxville Public Library Yeager Room. Lecture given by Kendal Henry, Assistant Commissioner, Public Art, for NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs.  The event is sponsored by the Charles A. Mastronardi Foundation. Artwork by local residents on display from October 1 through October 26 during regular library hours. For additional information please call 914-844-5120.

October 25, 2023, 7pm: Better Than Cooking event at Siwanoy Country Club.  The event benefits Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care. This year the event is also a celebration of Underhills Crossing restaurant's 30th Anniversary and its place in Bronxville History!  Click here to purchase tickets.

Two Drop-Off Sites: 1) Elementary School Parking Lot for drop-off of documents to be shredded. 2) Enter and exit Palumbo Place from Midland Avenue, for drop-off of electronics, gently used clothes & accessories, children’s clothes sized 0-16, bed linens, gently used towels and blankets (no sheets or pillows). www.bronxvillegreencommittee.org.

November 14, 2023, 8:30pm: Friends of the Bronxville Public Library present a special event in the Yeager Room at the Bronxville Public Library.  Conversation with the author of Getting Out Of Saigon: How A 27-Year-Old Banker Saved 113 Vietnamese Civilians. Bronxville resident Irena Choi Stern will moderate the evening.  Register here.

Bronxville Overview

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.

While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.

Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.

The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
