From specialists in personal wellness to master chefs to experts in taxes and estate planning, you can not only learn the material presented in class, but also become familiar with a wealth of local expertise to tap into whenever you need it.
For personal wellness, there is an eight-week mat Pilates class offered by Lyte Body Fitness on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at its facility at 27 Milburn Street #2.You can go today, September 24, to preview the class from 7:00 to 7:30--or just join up!
Or get A Taste of Yoga, Meditation & Shamanic Energy with Stephanie Filardi of the Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary on Wednesday, October 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. It will give you a greater awareness and the tools to help you live fully with more peace, joy, love, and connection.
You could also come to the Corrective Posture Clinic on Wednesday, October 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and learn how to correct the postural imbalances that lead to chronic pain, stiffness, and weakness. The class is taught by Peter Iacovello, co-founder of the Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary, who is a certified massage therapist and a certified personal trainer and is certified in integrated posture therapy from Kripalu.
Get into the flavor of fall the Spanish way at Olive Oil Lover's Guide to Tapas on Wednesday, November 12, from 7:00 to 8:45 pm, where Wolf Foust of Pure Mountain Olive Oils and Vinegars will demonstrate how to prepare four typical Spanish tapas--bread with tomatoes and serrano ham, Spanish potato omelet with ham and mushrooms, gazpacho, and garlic shrimp using a variety of oils, balsamic vinegars, and sea salts. You can also sign up for one of the many scrumptious cooking classes offered by the Bronxville Adult School, where you will not only learn the secrets of your teacher, but also get to savor the creations of a culinary expert.
For the past few years, the spring market in local real estate has started unusually early, and the current low level of housing inventory makes it likely to happen again. Be prepared by attending Optimize Your Real Estate Experience: Where to Start if You're Planning to Buy or Sell a Home on Wednesday, October 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Learn the ins and outs of managing your side in a bidding war, improving negotiation techniques, what to expect from your real estate agent, and lots more. Given by Priscilla Toomey of Julia B. Fee/Sotheby's International Realty, this class promises to provide many practical insights.
No one actually likes to think about death and taxes, but they are two of the inevitabilities of life. In a two-part series, the first about how to address end-of-life issues on Monday, October 6, and the second about how to organize documents and other end-of-life directives on Monday, November 3, from 7:00 to 8:45 pm, planning for each will be discussed. These classes are sure to be helpful, whether for yourself or a loved one. The classes may be taken together or separately.
On Thursday, October 30, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, David Otis Fuller of Bosworth, Gray & Fuller will be giving a class titled How to Be an Executor. This informative class will shed light on how probate, gathering assets, paying debts, the spousal election, beneficiary distributions, and general estate administration issues all work so you will be prepared should you be named an executor.

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
