May 23, 2018: The entries below are selections from the Bronxville police blotter.
Tuesday, May 15, 10:08 am, Park Place: Officers responded to a panhandling complaint on the sidewalk in front of Starbucks. Officers interviewed the male and determined that no crime had been committed. The male left the area of his own accord.
Tuesday, May 15, 12:18 am, Sagamore Road: There was a two-vehicle accident with no injuries; an information exchange was completed.
Tuesday, May 15, 12:21 pm, Pondfield Road: A business owner reported that two pink plastic flamingos in front of her store had been stolen. The incident is being investigated.
Tuesday, May 15, 10:08 am, Pondfield Road: There was a two-vehicle accident with no injuries; an information exchange was completed.
Wednesday, May 16, 10:53 am, White Plains Road: A 77-year-old man from New Rochelle was charged with Suspended Registration (misdemeanor) after Sergeant van der Leeuw stopped him for driving with a broken windshield and an inquiry revealed that the registration certificate was suspended due to outstanding parking tickets. The man’s vehicle was impounded. He was processed and released on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance.
Wednesday, May 16, 12:04 pm, Park Place: Police received a complaint of a suspicious male. Officers determined that the male was homeless and that no crime had been committed.
Wednesday, May 16, 1:01 pm, Cedar Street: A boot was affixed to a vehicle rendering it immobilized due to $545 in outstanding parking fines. The vehicle was released later in the day after the fines were satisfied.
Friday, May 18, 10:38 am, Park Place: A boot was affixed to a vehicle rendering it immobilized due to $285 in outstanding parking fines. The vehicle was released later in the day after the fines were satisfied.
Friday, May 18, 11:38 am, Pondfield Road: A boot was affixed to a vehicle rendering it immobilized due to $310 in outstanding parking fines. The vehicle will be released when the fines are satisfied.
Saturday, May 19 1:07 am, Masterton Road: Police responded to a noise complaint. The homeowner, who was having a gathering, was interviewed. No crime had been committed.
Saturday, May 19 2:06 pm, Starbucks: A wallet containing cash, personal papers, and credit cards was stolen from an unattended purse. The incident is being investigated.
Sunday, May 20, 4:05 pm, Studio Arcade: A black Giant Mountain Bike valued at $200 was stolen from the bike rack leaving only the front wheel chained to the rack. The incident is being investigated.

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
