Oct. 2, 2024: The Bronxville Adult School (BAS) held a hugely successful Open House on September 10 to launch its new school year.
Over 200 people attended the event which offered a slate of 20 free classes covering a wide range of subjects. New and returning students registered for classes to sample the breadth and quality of BAS’s instruction. The evening was buzzing with fun, learning and socializing with fellow students. Held at the Bronxville School, light refreshments were served.
For those new to BAS, it was an opportunity to try a class and get a feel for the school community. Many students signed up that evening for a full semester class, receiving 10% off the course fee.
“The community has supported BAS so this was our way of giving back,” says Victoria Thiessen, Director of the Bronxville Adult School. “We wanted to provide an easy opportunity for new students to experience a class for the first time and for existing students to try something new.” Classes at the Open House included fitness, art, cooking, history, games, dance, crafts and a film class with the Picture House of Bronxville.
The BAS fall semester is in full swing and includes a catalog of over 200 day and evening classes spanning eleven categories. The courses range from one-night workshops (such as art, cooking, crafts, history & business lectures) to multi-class series (including language, dance, fitness, arts and more).
One of the reasons BAS has prospered for over 80 years is its ability to remain current by continuously offering new programming. For example, new classes this fall include Notre Dame of Paris, The Early Days of Rock and Roll, Paper Marbling, Bookbinding, Paper Quilling, Stretch and Restore, Fall Herbs for your Windowsill and more. Instructors are generally experts in their field.

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
