August 31, 2011: Summer is winding down, and it's time to spend a few moments perusing the new fall/winter catalogue from the Bronxville Adult School (BAS).
The BAS offers some of greater Westchester's best classes and trips, all designed to bring out the lifetime learner in you. It's easy to sign up--just go to the website www.bronxvilleadultschool.org and register immediately using your credit card.
Tranquility: Would you like to hold on to some of that summer tranquility throughout the year? The BAS can help, with courses in profound relaxation, stress reduction, and yoga. Change your eating habits and feel more energetic, with Eating for Energy and the Role of Vitamin Supplements, Conquer Your Sugar Addiction, and Unlock Your Brain: Hypnosis for Weight-Loss. The class The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Parents may help to make family life a little more stress-free.
Managing Technology: Managing technology well can also free a person from frustration. Perhaps you are the lucky owner of an iPad, a Mac laptop, a Droid, a BlackBerry, or a digital camera but don't feel as if you're capitalizing on all the possibilities. The BAS has classes that will help you unlock the mysteries of these tools and let you enjoy all that they have to offer. If you're returning to the workplace, or just want to brush up on some software skills, Essential Computer Skills for the Workplace and QuickBooks classes are great for you. Take Internet Marketing Basics for Small Businesses and learn how to engage potential customers online.
Family and Pet Safety: Classes in health and safety are on the agenda this term too. Every Parent's Guide to Peanut Allergies is a must for anyone whose child, grandchild, child's friend, or child's classmate has nut allergies. Pet health is important as well. You can keep your pet healthy and save money with Keep Fido and Fluffy Out of the ER, taught by an award-winning veterinarian.
Holiday Gardens and Flowers: And although it's definitely too early to contemplate winter, the BAS is thinking ahead for you, with great home and garden classes taught by local experts--Holiday Flower Arranging and Preparing Your Garden for Winter.
All these, plus classes in bridge, dance, cooking, fitness, languages, and so much more are scheduled weekdays, weeknights, and weekends at the Bronxville Adult School.
Catalogues are available online at www.bronxvilleadultschool.org, at the library, and at many local establishments.

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
