Sep. 10, 2014: For many people, playing bridge is both a social experience and an intellectual challenge that they love. For some, it is even an obsession, and improving their play is an important goal. So it comes as no surprise that the Bronxville Adult School has bridge classes for every level of play, from "Beginners" through the more advanced "Supervised Play."
Bridge classes start on September 15 and run for eight weeks with popular new instructor Meryl Dinowitz-Eskridge, who is an ACBL-accredited teacher, Life Master, and accomplished player. If you're already hooked--or want to be--sign up online or by phone.
Speaking of "hooked," if you're at all crafty, there is a class for you at the Bronxville Adult School, too. From stained glass to watercolors, origami to oils and acrylics, beaded jewelry to drawing basics, knitting to needlepoint, quilting to crocheting, and a class called Stamping and Paper Crafting for the Fall & Holiday Season, you can hone your skills and enjoy the company of fellow classmates, together with expert and enthusiastic instructors whose guidance will increase your enjoyment of these time-honored crafts.
And starting on September 16, there's Reel IQ with film historian Debra Griboff. It's a series of classes that, through lectures and clips, will increase your enjoyment and understanding of ten classic films by examining their history, genre, themes, and artistry. Things you never knew about such classic movies as Casablanca and Rear Window will be revealed.
There are many more classes to experience, so be sure to see the catalogue you've already received or the one that is online at www.bronxvilleadultschool.org. Any questions, just call the Bronxville Adult School office at 914-793-4435 Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and noon.

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
