Sep. 7, 2016: It's not too late to sign up for fall classes at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, which is offering a variety of non-credit courses designed for writers from the aspiring to the published.
Classes in fiction, nonfiction, and writing for stage and screen, as well as workshops in publishing and book promotion, are being offered. For aspiring playwrights and screenwriters, The Writing Institute has many new courses this fall, including Art of the One Act Play and Introduction to Screenwriting.
The Writing Institute is also offering online courses in fiction and nonfiction, including a college essay writing course for high school students.
"At The Writing Institute everyone—from the novice to seasoned writers, preteens to retirees—can find a class that helps them bring their inner writer to life and be a part of a supportive community," said Pat Dunn, director of The Writing Institute. "Many writers who have studied at The Writing Institute have gone on to publish novels, memoirs, children's books, young adult novels, and more."
All classes are taught by successful industry professionals and members of the Sarah Lawrence College faculty. Eleven-week courses begin the week of September 19, and five-week classes begin the week of October 17. Online classes are five weeks, and all begin the week of October 17, with the exception of Writing Your College Essay, which begins September 12.
Those interested in The Writing Institute are encouraged to attend a free informational open house and faculty reading on Wednesday, September 7, at 6:30 pm.
All Writing Institute classes are open to the public and are held on the Sarah Lawrence College campus in Slonim House at 911 Kimball Avenue. Registration for all classes and the free informational open house on September 7 is now open.

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
