Oct. 21, 2024: A group of talented musicians from Bronxville High School have been invited to perform in the prestigious New York State Music Association’s 2024 Area All-State and All-State concerts on Nov. 2-3 and Dec. 4-7.

All-State Orchestra

Performing at the Area All-State orchestra are Samuel Bright (bass), Charlotte Davis (cello), Abigail Fong (violin), Camille Gautier (viola), Aidan Gegenwarth (violin), Ava Toolan (violin), Tiantong Wang (oboe) and Isabel Yeon (violin).

All-State Chorus

Performing with the Area All-State chorus are Peyton Gallo, Charlotte Haller, Isabel Haller and Katherine Fezza.

All-State Band

Performing with the Area All-State band are Henry Scholes (baritone) and Sean Spillane (tuba).

“The students represent hard work and dedication,” said Uma Karkala, band director and music department chairperson. “It is an honor to see these students represent Bronxville and share their talents with other musicians and educators. We are extremely proud of these musicians and their commitment to music.”

The students were selected from almost a thousand students based on auditions at last spring’s New York State School Music Association festival. The highest-scoring students at the festival are invited to participate in the Area All-State music ensembles.

The Area All-State band and orchestra concerts will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, and the chorus concert on Sunday, Nov. 3, at New Rochelle High School.

All-State Winter Conference

In addition, Tiantong Wang and Samuel Bright are among an elite group of students to perform at NYSSMA’s All-State Winter Conference in December. Out of thousands of students from across the state who auditioned, they were selected to perform at the annual concert based on their perfect scores.

The All-State Winter Conference will be held at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York, on Dec. 4-7.

Bronxville Public Library
Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
