Re-register for BASIC STAR to Receive Reduction in Bronxville School Taxes

Mar. 26, 2014: You may have heard much about new rules and procedures regarding the School Tax Assessment Reduction (STAR) program. This program is funded by New York State and reduces Bronxville School taxes for qualified taxpayers to the extent of approximately $1,300 every year.
Anyone previously receiving the BASIC STAR exemption is required to register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in order to continue receiving the benefits of this program. You should have received a letter from this agency containing instructions as to how to proceed.
Recently the village assessment department has been directed to remove approximately 150 such exemptions from our tax roll. We fear some of our residents may not have complied and therefore we are reaching out to remind you that, if you have not registered with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, do so immediately while there still is some time to remedy.
Here is the New York State agency contact information for further details and registration: Department of Taxation and Finance: 518-457-2036 and 518-474-2819, www.tax.ny.gov.
