By Bronxville Police Department
Nov. 23, 2016: On November 13, 2016, a Yonkers resident reported at 2:35 pm that her 18-month-old son had been bitten on the chin by a dog that was tied to a pole outside Starbucks three hours earlier.
The woman explained that her son would have to receive painful rabies shots if proof of vaccination could not be shown within 10 days.
The Bronxville Police Department undertook a search to identify the owner of the dog utilizing police surveillance cameras in the area surrounding Starbucks, and police were able to locate and memorialize a photograph of the dog owner walking the dog.
That photograph was broadcast through the SwiftReach system by the police department, resulting in numerous anonymous calls identifying the canine and its owner.
The dog owner was contacted and provided proof of rabies vaccination to the child's mother. The child was able to avoid getting the round of rabies shots.
