Bronco Winning Streak Ends in Shootout at Red Hook: See this Week's Playoff Schedule
Written by S. Quinn DeJoy and J. Murrer
Oct. 22, 2014: Bronxville was undefeated coming into last Saturday's non-league game against Section 9 Red Hook, but the first play of the game demonstrated that the 2-5 Raiders had come to play. The Raiders ran the opening kickoff all the way back to Bronxville's 25-yard line, scoring shortly afterwards to take an early lead. The Raiders' offense was unlike anything the Broncos have faced this season. Using a series of play-action passes, options, and fakes--and also capitalizing on Bronco penalties--they scored a second touchdown before Bronxville was able to put points on the board.
After a fumble recovery by Robby Westerfield, Bronxville scored two consecutive touchdowns on passes from quarterback Graham Klimley to receiver Brendan Walsh. Klimley threw a third touchdown pass, to Charlie Tarry, and then Brendan Carty scored a running touchdown that put the Broncos in the lead for the first time in the game at 28-21. The Raiders then scored again on a long touchdown pass and claimed the lead for good with a field goal in the final minutes of the game.
Still undefeated in league play, the top-seeded Broncos have home field advantage for their first playoff game, this Saturday against Woodlands at 2:45 pm.
