Bronco Playoffs Update: Boys' and Girls' Soccer Advance; Football Suffers Devastating Loss

Oct. 29, 2014: It is playoff season for the Broncos. Here is a look at how they fared this past week.
Boys' Soccer
The Bronco boys (13-3-2) defeated Albertus Mangus 5-1 in the first round of playoffs last Friday and then advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 win over Blind Brook on Monday. The No. 3 Bronxville boys will play in the Section 1 Class B semifinals today against No. 7 Edgemont at Chambers Field at 3:00 pm. The sectional final will take place on Saturday, November 1, at 6:30 pm at Arlington High School.
Update: Oct. 31, 2014: The boys' soccer team has made it to the Section 1 Class B finals after defeating Edgemont 2-1 in double OT on Wednesday. Sam Aherne scored the winning goal for the Broncos in the last minute of the second overtime. To see photos of this game, click here: Bronco Sports Gallery. Girls' Soccer
In the first round of playoffs on Saturday, the girls' soccer team (15-1-0) defeated Putnam Valley 5-0. The top-seeded Broncos defeated No. 8 Westlake 3-1 yesterday, and will play in the semifinal round against Albertus Magnus tomorrow at Bronxville at 2:00 pm. The sectional final will be held on Saturday, November 1, at 11:00 am at Arlington High School.
Update: Oct. 31, 2014: The girls' soccer team beat Albertus Magnus 2-0 on Thursday with Mason Warble and Lucy Kohlhoff scoring for Bronxville. Football
The top-seeded Bronxville football team (6-2) suffered a devastating 25-22 loss to No. 4 Woodlands on Saturday. In the game held at Chambers Field, Woodlands scored first to take a 6-0 lead, and although the Broncos briefly held a 14-12 lead, the Falcons went into halftime up 18-14. After a scoreless third quarter, a Falcon touchdown in the fourth brought the score to 25-14. Bronxville was able to score late in the game to get within three, but with just seconds on the clock, great defensive play by Woodlands broke up two long end zone passes from Graham Klimley to Charlie Tarry to end the game. Woodlands will face Rye Neck in the Class C Sectional finals on Saturday.
Field Hockey
The Class C field hockey team received a bye in the first round of playoffs and will face the winner of Valhalla/Putnam Valley on Saturday at 3:00 pm at Chambers Field. The Bronxville team (13-1-2) is the No. 1 seed in Class C. The semifinals will take place on November 4, and the sectional finals are on November 6 at Brewster High School.
Tennis
Senior Chrissy Simon took third in the Section 1 Tournament by defeating Ilyssa Schneidman from Ardsley 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. She will head to the New York State Championships on November 1 at the Tri-City Tennis Center in Latham.
