June 11, 2025: The boys’ and girls’ outdoor track and field teams won their respective League and Sectional Championships this spring. Nineteen Broncos have qualified for the New York State Championships either by hitting the Super Standard time during the season or by placing first at the Section 1 State Qualifiers, which were held last week. States will take place June 13th and 14th at Middletown High School.
Wyatt Gravier will be aiming to repeat his success from last year’s State Championship, where he won the 110m hurdles in a time of 14.05. He should have a good chance of repeating his success as he recently broke his own record at the Class B Sectional Championship with a time of 13.78, the second fastest time ever recorded in New York State.
Juliet Winiecki, returning to States for the fourth consecutive year, will compete in three events: 100m hurdles, the 400m hurdles, and the 4x400m relay. Last year she placed 12th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16:08. At last week’s State Qualifiers, Winiecki won the 100m hurdles in 15.44 and also placed first in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:05.88.
Several Bronxville school records were set at the Section 1 State Qualifier. The boys’ 4x400m relay team, Davis Patterson, Grant Patterson, Spencer Martin, and Javier Tomala-Reidel, placed first and set a new school record of 3:24.25. Javier Tomala-Reidel also set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 49.60. Additionally, William Bringle tied the high jump school record with a leap of 6-03.
