Bronxville Athletes Honored at Winter Sports Awards, 2025

By J. Murrer and S.Q. DeJoy
March 26, 2025: Bronxville athletes who participated in winter sports were recognized at the Winter Sports Awards evening on March 11th. The Bronxville School offers many winter sports, including indoor track and field, basketball, and squash. Additionally, the school partners with other schools to offer ice hockey, boys’ swimming, and skiing.
The indoor track and field teams dominated the competition this season, with the boys’ and girls’ teams capturing League and Sectional Championships. Despite battling injuries and illness during Sectionals, the girls’ team showcased its depth winning the Class C Sectional Championship with an impressive 157-57 victory.
In addition to their Leagues and Sectional titles, the boys’ team made history by winning the overall County Championship for the first time. It has been an unforgettable journey for the 16 seniors who have left behind an incredible legacy.
“It was a very special year,” said Coach Brian Halling. “One thing I love about track is that you can have a lot of people with different skill sets and a lot of different personalities who gel and become one unit.”
The different skill sets were evident at sectionals where the girls’ team placed first or second in 12 out of the 13 track and field events, and the boys’ team achieved the same feat in nine events.
Bronxville’s relay teams put together a very successful season and peaked at the perfect time. The boys’ and the girls’ 4x800m relays won their respective D2 NYS Championships, and the girls’ 4x400m relay placed 2nd at states, narrowly missing the State title by 0.1 second.
The girls’ basketball team had one of their best seasons in recent history, placing 3rd overall in Class A and finishing with an outstanding 17-3 record.
In total, the Broncos were honored with 29 All-League awards, 19 All-County awards, and they are likely to receive multiple All-Section awards, which are expected to be announced soon.
