Staying in Touch with Your Competent, Confident Self Is Subject of Career Network Meeting October 23

Oct. 9, 2013: Staying confident and maintaining a high sense of self-esteem is crucial to any successful job search or major life transition.
Life purpose and career coach Judy Garfinkel will teach ways for job seekers and career changers to maintain both at the next meeting of the Bronxville Career Network on Wednesday, October 23, at 7:30 pm at The Reformed Church of Bronxville.
Key discussion points:
- Understand what confidence is and isn’t
- Get a picture of your personal "trampoline"--the skills and strengths that bounce you back to confident
- Learn powerful listening skills that have a bigger impact on confidence and self-esteem than you might think
According to Garfinkel, we can be seriously affected by adult life changes such as job loss, elder caregiving, a new job, retirement, health issues, an empty nest, or just plain craving for self-reinvention.
In these moments of risk (planned or otherwise), it's natural to feel doubt and lapses of confidence. Just when we need access to our stores of confidence most, we struggle and wonder where our confidence went--maybe we never had it?
We may wonder what confidence is, anyway. Garfinkel is a former ballet dancer and an educator. She knows what it is to give it all to a career and what it is to care for others to the point of resentment, frustration, and isolation. She herself has made difficult transitions more than once.
Garfinkel is a board certified life purpose and career coach and holds a master's degree in holistic thinking. Learn more at www.moveintochange.com or contact her at
