Pet of the Week: Charming Charlie

By Allison Roesser
Jan. 13, 2021: Charming Charlie is a 14 week old, nine-pound schnauzer/dachshund mix rescued from Houston, Texas.
Charlie was one of a litter of six puppies. His mother and father are 12 and 15 pounds, and both have long, wiry hair. It is believed that Charlie may end up being slightly larger than his parents and closer to 20 pounds. Both of his parents look like schnauzers; Half of the puppies in the litter have long schnauzer-like hair, while Charlie and two others have short hair, elongated bodies, and short legs like a Dachshund.
Charlie is extremely snuggly and loves to be in someone’s arms. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and would be thrilled to go to a home where he can play with another furry friend.
Charlie is also one extremely smart puppy. He has learned commands such as “sit” and “turn around” and is already crate trained and almost completely housebroken. Charley has a gentle demeanor and a calm temperament and is the perfect puppy for a family with children.
Unfortunately, Charlie developed what is known as a “cherry eye” when one of his littermates was a little too rough with him. He visited the ophthalmologist, and thankfully none of his vision has been affected.
At the time of his neuter, he will also undergo a simple procedure to tack his inner eyelid back into place and make him as good as new.
Charlie is in excellent health otherwise and up-to-date with all of his vaccinations. For more information about Charlie, please visit the SNARR website at www.snarr northeast.org.
