Pet of the Week: Chloe

By Allison Roesser
Aug. 26, 2015: Chloe is a gorgeous one-and-a-half-year-old Australian shepherd who is ready to be put to work.
Chloe is a purebred Aussie who came from a breeder in Idaho. She had a great home with a loving owner until he lost his job and had to move back in with his parents. Now he is brokenhearted to have to part with his beloved pet, but he wants to do what is best for her. Chloe needs more space to run around and his parents' home cannot give that to her.
According to her owner, "She is an amazing and loving dog who is great with people, especially babies and children. She also gets along wonderfully with other dogs (she has yet to meet a cat.)"
Australian shepherds are an extremely intelligent, devoted, and versatile breed. They are considered one of the smartest dogs and can excel in almost anything they put their mind to. They can be easily trained in many areas, including obedience and agility, and can even be trained to do household chores.
Whether it is picking up dirty laundry, learning word recognition, keeping an eye on the kids, or fetching the paper, they are eager to have a purpose. They thrive in homes where their brains and energy are put to good use. You don't have to have a flock of sheep to live with an Aussie, but it is important to keep in mind that this breed does not know the meaning of the term "couch potato." They are happiest when they are active and engaged and would do best with a like-minded owner.
At 40 pounds, Chloe is the perfect medium-sized companion dog. She is in excellent health and is up to date with her vaccinations. If you would like more information or would like to meet Chloe, please contact Joanne at 914-939-3217 or
