Letter to the Community from Helen Knapp, Village Trustee Candidate Running for Re-election

March 11, 2026
To My Fellow Residents:
On Wednesday, March 18, I will be running for re-election as Village Trustee. It has been an honor to serve Bronxville for the past six years, and deeply rewarding to work alongside the Mayor, my fellow Trustees, and the exceptional team at Village Hall who all share a strong commitment to our community.
Being a Trustee means serving as a steward of our Village. Our responsibility is to represent all residents and community members — not just those with whom we agree politically — and to focus on what is best for Bronxville. I am grateful for the bipartisan endorsements of Trustees Mary Behrens and Bill Fredericks, Deputy Mayor Bob Underhill, and Mayor Mary Marvin.
As Trustee, I have helped complete many projects that have enhanced the quality of life in our Village. Notable accomplishments include:
-Maintaining the Village portion of your overall property tax bill at 17 percent while retaining an Aaa bond rating from Moody’s.
-Funding extensive storm drain and sewer maintenance, along with critical flood mitigation projects.
-Increasing the size of the Village police force and supporting new public safety initiatives.
-Implementing traffic and pedestrian safety improvements throughout the Village, including new crosswalks, improved signage, and significant recent enhancements in the downtown business district.
-Working closely with the Village’s Green Committee to advance sustainability and cost-effective environmental initiatives. The adoption of a municipal Climate Action Plan (2023) provides a measurable framework to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030
-Supporting the Chamber of Commerce and local merchants to ensure Bronxville remains a wonderful place to eat, shop, and enjoy first-class services — always emphasizing the importance of shopping local.
We are incredibly fortunate to call Bronxville home. We live and work in a special place where every day neighbors walk together with their children to school, share the latest news while waiting for the train or running errands, and work together on the many incredible volunteer organizations that serve our community. My focus as a Trustee is to work collaboratively to do what is best for this Village that I care about so deeply. On March 18, I respectfully ask for your support based on my experience, judgment, and dedication to Bronxville.
Thank you for your consideration,
Helen Knapp
Village Trustee
